Due to the extremely cold temperatures that rapidly deplete the energy from their batteries, the team has had to use the tracker purely for point to point reference. The tracker is turned on in the morning to mark the location and turned on again in the evening to mark the stopping point. The on and off routine is the reason for the straight line of the tracker. The team has traveled 5 to 10 kms offshore the entire journey, only approaching land for photo and video opportunities. The tracker battery is the most important battery with the team and must be conserved. In case of emergency this would help mark their location.
Total distance covered was between 680km and 730km; the tracker map will be adjusted shortly!
